Publication formatting: Creating your book's look and feel
I will work with you to select the right
fonts for your text, headings and other page elements, and format the pages to meet your
publisher's or printer's specifications. I'm expert in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
Page layout and design are a specialty.
Between manuscript and publication, any book must have its typography designed
and pages formatted. This includes selecting fonts for body copy, chapter headings, captions and other
elements; spacing between lines and paragraphs; and many other details of how the finished book will look.
Good formatting makes the book look good and inviting to readers. It's also crucial to readability.
If a reader has to struggle to keep focus on the printed word, it could be the result of the wrong fonts, or
improper spacing, which can lead to eyestrain and mental fatigue.
Once I have established the typography, we will apply it thoughout the book, ensuring
that every page is finished to the printer's specifications. This include page numbering, chapter headings,
placement of any photos or illustrations, and a table of contents.
More elaborate formatting bridges the gap to full-fledged page design, as seen in the examples
